Explore and Capture: The Experience of a Destination Photoshoot in Marseille
Knowing the place before photographing it is essential to get shots that really tell a story. In Paris, a city I know from head to toe, I learned the importance of exploring every corner and understanding how light and details can transform an image. That's why, when someone asked me to do a destination shoot, I always go ahead and do some scouting beforehand. This early scouting allows me to identify the ideal spots and ensure that, when we work together, the result is truly exceptional.
In my last destination session in Marseille, I set out to find two emblematic places that would capture the essence and architecture of the city, I tried to find two not too far from each other so we would not lose so much time in transportation. The first spot was the old port, a place full of character and life, ideal to start the Photoshoot during the first hour of the day, especially because it is a place that defines Marseille. A day before, I found that the light in that corner was perfect to highlight every detail. With the right outfit, each shot was transformed into a visual story, so striking that it looked like something out of a movie. So I was able to create the scenes that I had dreamed so much for the couple to have in their gallery.
A few steps from the port, I discovered the majestic Cathedral of Marseille, a setting that stood out for its shadows and architectural lines, favored by a perfect climate. The cathedral reminded me of the cathedral in Florence, evoking elegance and detail in every arch and facade. The interaction of light with its structures created a unique perspective that highlighted the naturalness and style of the couple, capturing the essence of the place and the authenticity of the moment.
